Seven militants belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were gunned down by police in Sohrab Goth area on the outskirts of Karachi.
The militants were killed during a shootout when police raided the Gadap area of Sohrab Goth in the morning, senior superintendent of police in Malir district, Rao Anwar, told reporters.
"One of those killed is a commander of the al-Qaeda and we also arrested two injured militants," Anwar said.
Around 500 policemen took part in the search operation conducted on a intelligence tip-off.
In an apparent retaliation, four policemen were killed in different target killings in the city later in the day.
Two policemen were killed in North Nazimabad while two policemen were shot dead in Sohrab Goth.
