In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Rathore said, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has started collecting data under 'attack on media' through monthly crime statistics since January 2014.
He also gave details of the state or UT-wise provisional data related to cases registered over such attacks.
According to information shared by the minister 62 such cases had been registered in UP upto the month of June and there were no arrests.
Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Meghalaya were other states where such cases were registered.
The rest seven arrests took place from the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Meghalaya.
