A total 14.15 lakh criminal and 2.66 civil cases are pending in the different courts of the state, Law Minister Narendra Narayan Yadav said in reply today to a short notice question of CPI Kedar Pandey in the legislative council.
The minister accepted that shortage of judges was a big hindrance in early disposal of pending cases.
He said 204 posts in superior judiciary service and 365 posts of sub-judge in junior division are lying vacant in different courts of the state and the process to fill vacant posts was on.
Yadav said seven districts - Banka, Supual, Araria, Kisanganj, Seikhpura, Lakhisarai and Arwal does not have subordinate courts due to non-availability of infrastructural facilities.
