Punjab government today issued charge sheet to 16 health officials, including three doctors, after they were found absent from duty during a surprise check recently.
An official spokesman said the surprise checking was conducted at a Primary Health Centre at Shatrana in Patiala district.
Surprise checking will be conducted on regular basis in government run hospitals and health centers, he said, adding the idea behind the exercise was to provide better health facilities and ensure punctuality of doctors and staff in all health institutions across the state.
