The 16th edition of the National Book Fair is scheduled to begin on September 28 at the Motimahal Lawns here.
The 11-day literary event will mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, and also pay tribute to former Indian prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and eminent Hindi poet Gopaldas Neeraj, who passed away this year on August 16 and July 19 respectively.
"Books are known to be a man's best friends, and have contributed in strengthening the social fabric of the country. Programmes at the fair will include Urdu and Arabic workshops, shloka-chanting performances, debates and quizes," Murlidhar Ahuja, convenor of the fair, said.
The fair will come to a close on October 7.
