17 killed, 5 injured in K'taka road accident

Seventeen people were today killed and five others injured when a jeep in which they were travelling rammed into a private bus near Sindgi town in Karnataka's Bijapur district.
Sixteen of the deceased were reported to be from one family, police said.
Bijapur Superintendent of Police Ajay Hilori told PTI here that five persons were also injured in the mishap which occurred when the jeep driver tried to overtake at a sharp curve and crashed into the bus.
All the victims were travelling by the jeep and were reportedly going from Gulbarga to Basappawadi in Sangli district of Maharashtra, Hilori said.
