Gayeshpur Municipal Chairman Maran Kumar De said the goods were probably meant for black marketing and a team comprising district officials were conducting raids.
Swapan Kumar Kundu, the SDO, Kalyani said "we have recovered 175 bags of ration goods like rice, wheat, sugar and Atta."
Police sources said that while the driver of the mini truck ran away following recovery of some bags from his vehicle, the helper was taken in to police custody.
Rest of the seizure was made from different godowns in the area and another person identified as Arun Samaddar was detained.
