Naked body of an 18-year-old girl, who was apparently raped, and her minor brother were found in their house in East Delhi's Karawal Nagar area in the wee hours today, police said.
Both the bodies bore multiple stab injuries and their throats were slit.
The bodies were discovered at the first floor room of the house by the victims' aunt around 6:30 AM when she went there to wake them up.
The woman then raised an alarm, informed the siblings' father who works with a courier company and also called police.
Police suspect that the girl, whose body was found on the floor, was sexually assaulted before being murdered as there were no clothes on her body. However, it would be only clear after a postmortem whether she was actually raped or not.
"It seems that the attackers were known to the siblings. Their aunt's daughter-in-law was sleeping in an adjacent room and it was found bolted from outside," said a police official.
There are signs of some struggle in the room between the victims and the attackers who could be more than one.
"We have got some leads in the case but it is too early to comment. We are investigating the case from all possible angles," said Joint Commissioner of Police (Eastern Range) Sanjay Beniwal.
Police has registered a case of murder in this regard and further investigations are on. They have questioned neighbours and other relatives in this connection.
