The celebration started with Mangalarati at 4.30AM followed by Vedic chanting and Bhajan by Brahmacharins of Training Centre, reading and discourse of "Sri Sri Ramakrishna Punthi" by Swami Stavapriyananda, Padavali Kirtan, Bhajan, Rag Sangeet at the Belur Math premises today.
Students of Veda Vidyalaya, Belur Math performed the Sanskrit drama of Mahavir Abhimanyu while pupils of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith of Deodhar enacted the Seva Yoga in Hindi before the evening Arati at the temple followed by the Fireworks on the Ganga river to end the celebrations.
His teachings influenced millions worldwide and Swami Vivekananda, his chief disciple, formed the Ramakrishna Mission, a philanthropic, volunteer organisation in 1897.
Ramakrishna passed away on August 16, 1886.
