The TADA court sent him back to jail, to serve the remainder of his imprisonment.
Gupta, who has already served over 13 years in the jail, was out on bail since 2007; he went into hiding after the apex court upheld his sentence earlier this year.
Last week he was arrested from Kerala's Kannur district where he was living in his wife's house.
According to CBI, Gupta was involved in the landing of explosives at Shekhadi coast in Maharashtra. The explosives were used in the multiple blasts in Mumbai that killed 257 people and injured over 700 on March 12, 1993.
The trials of extradited gangster Abu Salem, Mustafa Dossa Abdul Qayuum, Riyaz Siddiqui and others who were arrested in the case later are still pending.
