At least 2.1 lakh houses in 18 districts of Odisha have been completely destroyed by cyclone Phailin and resultant floods that ravaged parts of the state in October this year.
State Panchayati Raj Minister Kalpataru Das said this while replying a question in the Odisha Assembly today. Das said that a proposal has been sent to the Centre demanding 1.16 lakh houses for poor families in six districts under Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) in the first phase.
"The collectors of 30 districts would be informed through circulars regarding the state government's decision on allotment of houses for the cyclone and flood-affected families," Das added.
