2,751 IAS, IPS officials of reserved class: Govt

As many as 2,751 IAS, IPS and IFoS officials belonging to reserved categories -- Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class -- are working across the country, the government said today.
Of these, 1,200 officials are from Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 880 of Indian Police Service (IPS) and 671 are from Indian Forest Service (IFoS), it said.
There are 447 IAS officials of SC category, 232 of ST and 521 belonging to OBC, Minister of State for Personnel Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
Among IPS officials, 352 belong to SC, 170 to ST and 358 to OBC. There are 266 IFoS officers belonging to SC category, 150 to ST and 255 to OBC, he said.

"They (officers) have been given representation as per the reservation policy of the Government of India at the rate of 15 per cent, 7.5 per cent and 27 per cent in respect of SC, ST and OBC respectively in the Direct Recruitment quota for all India services," Singh said.
