2 bootleggers arrested with 750 cartons of liquor bottles

Two persons were today arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the state 750 cartons of liquor bottles, worth Rs 40 lakh, from Haryana where alcohol is cheaper, police said.
The bootleggers, identified as Nadeem and Islam, both residents of Bijnor, were trying to smuggle 750 cartons of liquor in a vehicle using fake bills, Superintendent of Police (City) Mukul Dwivedi said.
He said the consignment was being supplied from Panipat in Haryana to Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh.
