2 cloth merchants held with fake notes in Thane

Two cloth merchants from Ulhasnagar township in Maharashtra's Thane district were arrested for possessing fake currency, police said Monday.

Acting on a tip-off, Crime Branch Unit V nabbed Amjad Ibrahim Sheikh (38) and Ashok Keni (58) from Veer Savarkar Nagar area with counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 6,000, Senior Inspector Jairaj Ranavre said.

"We are probing where they got the fake currency from and how they planned to disburse it," he said.
