Another person was injured in the deadly shooting at Knight Transportation office in the Houston suburb of Katy, said Harris County Sheriff Ron Hickman.
"Other than he was terminated, we don't know anything about him," Hickman said. "He parked right outside the building and came right in."
Hickman did not divulge any information about the injured person. Police said the victim was an employee who was shot in the face with a bean bag fired from a shotgun.
On its website, the company says it has a "fleet of over 4,000 tractors and more than 8,800 trailers" and employs nearly 5,000 "associates."
Katy is about 30 miles west of Houston.
