The five persons were going to Gauriganj when they met with the accident, SHO of Piparpur police station said.
Bhadar Om Prakash Singh, former president of block Congress committee, and Hari Singh died on the spot, he said.
The injured, Ashok Singh, Grih Prakash Singh and Anshu Singh, all residents of Ghorha village, were rushed to Sultanpur district hospital.
Expressing grief over the deaths, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi extended his condolences to the families of the victims, Chandrakant Dubey, Gandhi's local representative in Amethi, said.
