2 detained with huge amount of cash in new Rs 2000 notes

The Income Tax department sleuths today seized a huge amount of cash in Rs 2,000 denomination new currency notes from a hotel on Mumbai-Agra highway here and detained two persons in this connection.
I-T officials did not provide any information on the total amount seized, police sources said.
It is suspected that the new currency notes were brought for exchanging them against the scrapped currency of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000, they said.
Income Tax department on a tip-off laid a trap on a hotel and detained two persons.
According to Indira Nagar police station officials here, I-T department sought police protection, but no offence has been registered so far.
