Sanjeev Gajwani, who was associated with hosiery business, was shot dead on August 22, they said.
Four persons, on two motorcycles, had robbed him while he was parking his scooter outside his house.
He was shot at by one of the men when he tried to resist the robbery attempt. Two empty cartridges and a live cartridge were found at the spot, the police said.
During investigation, it was revealed that out of the two motorcycles used in the crime, one motorcycle was a white Yamaha R15.
On September 17, two of the accused - Sanjay (24) and Dalip Singh (31) - were arrested from Ashoka Park, Bharat Nagar.
Singh was selling socks in Shastri Nagar and was aware of the business activities of that area. He knew that Gajwani used to carry huge cash on weekends, Dumbere said.
He shared the information with his associates -- Sanjay, Rajesh and Ravi Dhedha -- and hatched a plan for robbing the businessman.
When he parked his scooter outside his house in Ashok Vihar, one of the accused snatched his bag after firing in the air. Gajwani chased the assailant while he was about to sit on the motorcycle and grappled with him, said the DCP.
The assailants fired at the businessman's throat and fled the spot. The robbed bag contained Rs 50,000.
The bag was taken by Rajesh and Ravi Dhedha, who are still absconding.
The businessman used to carry Rs 4 to 5 lakh on the weekend but they could not commit the robbery on the weekend before the one on which the incident happened since Gajwani did not come to work, the police said.
