"A director and a guard of a home for mentally-challenged children have been arrested on charges of sexually abusing five girl inmates of the centre in Channi Rama area of Jammu city," Deputy Inspector General of Police Shakeel Beigh told PTI.
Director S Sharma and Angad Kumar, a guard, have been arrested, he said.
Police has also registered a case against the Home for Mentally Retarded Children and began investigation, the DIG said.
The Board was represented by Deputy Commissioner, Additional DC, SP, and doctors, including gynaecologists and psychiatrist.
"The report (of the Board) came out with revelations that five mentally challenged girls were sexually exploited. We immediately registered a case and started investigation," the DIG said.
There are 45 mentally retarded children in the shelter, he said, adding that "it is shocking".
