According to police, four dacoits entered the house of the retired teacher, Rambilas Singh, at around 2 AM through the roof and robbed the valuables.
When 62-year-old Singh and his son, Samarjeet, tried to resist the loot bid, the dacoits attacked them and opened fire in which Singh sustained bullet injuries, SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said.
Finding themselves surrounded by the villagers, the dacoits started firing indiscriminately, in which a 17-year-old youth Amit Vishwakarma sustained gun shot injuries, and the three dacoits managed to escape.
Both the teacher and Vishwakarma were admitted to the hospital, where condition of the youth is stated to be serious, the official said.
The family has claimed that cash and jewellery worth lakhs have been looted by the dacoits.
