The Volvo bus, enroute to Delhi from Lucknow via Kanpur, collided with a truck, turned over and hit against an electricity pole around 2 AM in Panki, Superintendent of Police, Kanpur (Rural), Surendra Tiwari said.
The impact of the collision was so strong that the bus was severely damaged leaving passengers in hue and cry, he said.
The locals rescued the passengers and informed the police, who arrived at the spot along with an ambulance and joined in the rescue work, the SP said.
The eleven injured have been admitted at Hallet Hospital of Kanpur Medical College while the remaining passengers have been discharged after being treated for minor injuries.
Three passengers were stated critical, the SP added.
The truck driver is absconding and further probe is underway, he said.
