2 Lucknow doctors appointed director of AIIMS Rishikesh, Patna

Two eminent doctors of Lucknow, Dr Prabhat Kumar Singh and Professor Ravi Kant, were today appointed directors of AIIMS Rishikesh and Patna respectively, even as authorities continued search for the next head of the prestigious institute in New Delhi.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the appointment of Singh, present head of the Anaesthesiology at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, for AIIMS, Patna and that of Ravi Kant, Vice Chancellor of King George's Medical University and Padma Shri, for AIIMS, Rishikesh.
They have been appointed on deputation basis for a period of five years with effect from their assumption of charge of the post till they attain the age of 65 years or till further orders, whichever is earliest, a statement from the government said.
Kant, a noted surgeon, has been professor of surgery for last 18 years besides being faculty at AIIMS Bhopal and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi.
He has been a member of faculty in the KGMU since 1984.
Meanwhile, a selection-cum-search panel headed by Union Health Secretary C K Mishra today shortlisted five names for the Director's post at AIIMS Delhi.
