The rallies of Swaraj, who had addressed two public meetings yesterday here, were called off even as the local organisers did not know the reason behind the cancellation.
Swaraj was in office today, a day after the government abruptly announced "curtailment" of Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh's tenure and appointed S Jaishankar in her place. After taking charge, Jaishanakar today met Swaraj in her South Block office.
Meanwhile, two rallies of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan were also cancelled. BJP has fielded senior party leaders, including Union Cabinet ministers and State Chief Ministers, to campaign for the party for the February 7 Delhi assembly elections.
