Two minor girls, both sisters, drowned while bathing in a pond near Mettupalayam, about 35 km from here today, police said.
The girls, aged 12 and nine got caught in the slush and could not come out of the pond, they said.
Their bodies were retrieved with the help of fire and rescue service personnel and sent for post-mortem, police said.
