2 tea gardens to reopen in North Bengal

The Kalchini and Raimatang tea gardens, which closed down on December 14 due to non-payment of wages and labour unrest, will reopen tomorrow, Debiprasad Karanam, District Magistrate of Alipurduar said here today.
The decision was taken during a tripartite meeting at the District Magistrate's office.
The Alipurduar DM, owners of the two tea gardens - the Buxa Dooars Tea Company and trade union leaders were present at the meeting.
A total number of 5,000 people work in the company's tea gardens.
