2 tiffin bombs found in Odisha

Security forces today recovered two powerful tiffin bombs from Maoist-hit Adava area in Gajapati district of Odisha, police said.
"The explosives, suspected to have been planted by Maoists, were recovered from Kattama-Baliganda route under Adava police station limit during joint combing operation by CRPF, district voluntary force (DVF) and local police," Superintendent of Police, Gajapati, Satyajit Nayak said.
During the combing operation, the security personnel found two tiffins containing Improvised Explosive Device (IED), weighing around 47 kg each, he said.
The bombs, connected with other materials including livewires, detonators and batteries for explosion, were planted under the ground in two separate places, the SP said, adding they were immediately defused by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) at the spot.

The powerful bombs may have been planted by red rebels from neighboring Andhra Pradesh targeting the security forces, he suspected.
With recovery of the powerful bombs from the Gajapati-Kandhamal-Rayagada border areas, police suspected frequent movements of the cadre of the outlawed CPI (Maoists) in the region.
In August this year, security personnel had recovered tiffins containing IED from roadside at Telengapadara, about two-km from the camp of OSAP at Paniganda.
Combing operation was intensified in the area following the recovery of the powerful tiffin-bombs and the forces maintained a strict vigil on the movement of people in areas adjoining Andhra, SP said.
