2-yr graduation done before 1986 equivalent to 3-yr degree:UGC

In a big relief to candidates who passed a two-year graduation degree programme before 1986, the University Grants Commission today said their degrees will now be treated at par with those candidates who have completed a three-year course.
According to the UGC Regulations, 1985, no student was eligible for award of graduation degree unless they had completed a three-year course. Also, the said students were not eligible to seek admission to masters degree courses.
"It is clarified that students who had enrolled themselves in first degree course prior to June 4, 1986 and had successfully completed it by then, irrespective of their duration shall be treated at par with students who have completed three-year degree course," UGC said in a notification today.

"They are not required to undergo a further one year bridge course. Degrees obtained prior to the date and awarded to students enrolled prior to the same, shall be treated valid for all purposes including admission to a masters degree programme, other higher studies and employment," it added.
