20 pvt members bills introduced in LS

As many as 20 private members bills including those seeking to introduce compulsory voting, protection of cow and prevention of acid attacks were introduced in the Lok Sabha today.
Two separate bills to provide for compulsory voting were brought by Varun Gandhi and Janardan Singh 'Sigriwal' (both BJP).
Chandrakant Khaire (Shiv Sena) introduced the Cow (Protection) bill for protection of cow and its progeny.
The bill seeking to regulate trade and business of acid, prevention of acid attacks and rehabilitation of victims of acid attacks was brought by B Mahtab (BJD).
Mahtab introduced another bill for regulation of practice of surrogacy to effectively deal with the issues connected with it.
Khaire also introduced a bill to ensure payment of compensation to farmers affected by natural calamities.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury (Cong) moved three bills seeking to protect the interest of agriculture workers, provide for pension of old persons and prevent female infanticide.
Saugata Roy (TMC) and Chowdhury introduced two separate bills seeking financial assistance for West Bengal to help the state tide over the financial problems and provide for development of weaker sections of society.
Baijayant Panda (BJD) introduced separate bills for amending the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
Panda also brought forward a bill for establishment of fast tract courts for trial of cases involving criminal charges against elected representatives.
Rakesh Singh (BJP) introduced separate bills for prohibition of ragging and unfair practices in education institutions and universities and assistance to street children.
Panda brought forward a bill to prohibit advertisement and regulation of trade in tobacco products.
