The business delegation will be in New Delhi from November 7-9 to showcase their high tech smart city solutions at the India-UK Tech Summit.
They will then travel to Kochi, where they will meet representatives from government and industry, the British High Commission in Chennai said in a press release.
The mission will build on existing UK support to Kochi, including for their smart city bid and work on urban master-planning in Aluva.
"Theresa May's visit to India, her first visit outside Europe since she became Prime Minister, reflects India's importance as a strategic partner," Bharat Joshi, British Deputy High Commissioner in Chennai said.
"We have already supported the Kochi Smart Cities Project and I'm excited to be bringing more than 20 first-rate UK companies with expertise in transport infrastructure, built environment, energy, water, waste management and sanitation, technology infrastructure and securities and cyber solutions to see for themselves the opportunities this extraordinary city offers," he said.
"This is the first and largest business delegation of its kind to Kerala. The companies visiting Kochi will pitch the latest in cutting edge smart city solutions to both government and industry," Tammy Sandhu, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of Department for International Trade, Chennai said.
"We look forward to explore partnership opportunities that Kochi Smart City has to offer," she said.
The UK is country partner at this year's Tech Summit, India's premier science and technology showcase.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the partnership between the two countries during his visit to the UK in November 2015.
The UK companies are showcasing a variety of innovative solutions at the Tech Summit. Exhibits include smart meters, a self-driving vehicle, solar-powered grids and advanced technology mobile devices.
