50 wireless sets were dispatched to Dharamsala in four boxes from Kullu after the Dussehra festival concluded on October 10, police said.
However, more than 20 sets went missing on the way.
"The security of Chief Minister, ministers, police officers, deputy commissioners and other VIPs and even Z security Dalai Lama could have been at risk as there is threat of leakage of information about VIP movement to anti social elements.
"But these wireless sets were immobilised and are inoperative," DGP, Sanjay Kumar said.
