Deepti, who was on her bike, was killed after the truck knocked the two-wheeler and ran over her at Chhouch crossing of the city while she was on her way to coaching institute, police said.
The truck driver attempted to flee the spot after the accident, but the local people and the police personnel chased the vehicle and forced it to stop near LRP crossing, police said.
However, the driver of the truck managed to escape before the arrest could be made, they said.
They blocked the traffic after the accident, alleging that police and administration had failed to put in safety arrangements on this accident-prone big crossing on the outskirts of the city, they said.
The police officials rushed to spot and attempted to pacify the excited people, they said adding that the matter is under investigation.
