200 detonators, 150 gelatine sticks seized; one arrested

Two hundred detonators and 150 gelatin sticks were today seized from a house near Cuddalore, 180 km from here, and one person arrested in this connection, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid and found the explosive materials hoarded in the house at Korakavadi and arrested one Manikandan, they said.
Further investigation is on, police said.
Police is maintaining tight vigil following the May 1 twin blasts on board the Kaziranga Express at the Chennai Central Railway Station that claimed a woman's life and the crude bomb explosion two days later in a residential area at Chidambaram in Cuddalore district that left five persons injured.

Meanwhile, Chinese crackers worth several lakhs of rupees were today seized from a shop in the fireworks hub of Sivakasi near here, police said.
Police conducted a raid after being informed that large quantities of imported chinese crackers were stored in the shop.
