The four-day state championship, for different age groups of men and women, was being organized by East Singhbhum District Badminton Association under the aegis of Jharkhand Badminton Association (JBA).
The Secretary of JBA, K Prabhakar Rao said players from 19 affiliated distiricts, barring Latehar, were taking part in the tournament, which was a major championship of the state.
The significance of the tournament remained that the Jharkhand Under-19 team will be picked up based on merit of the player for the upcoming Inter-State Championship to be held in Darbhanga, Bihar from October 25.
