2000 kg cannabis worth Rs one crore from 50 houses in Sonamura subdivision of Sipahijala district in Tripura today, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF), state police and sub-division administration raided fifty houses of two villages - Taibandal and Kalamkhet today and seized the contraband items.
The villages are near the Indo-Bangla international border where these contrabands were cultivated for smuggling into neighbouring country which brought them good amount of money.
Police said they also seized equal amount of cannabis in the last week of the last month from the same sub-division. Tripura has 856 KM of international border with Bangladesh.
