A senior police officer said the incident happened last night around 10 PM when the girl was playing outside her home.
Sombir, the accused, lured her with toffees and since she knew him she went along, he said.
The accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, he said.
When her parents couldn't trace her, they informed the police. "A team was formed to search for the girl and around 11 PM she was found lying unconscious at a field near her house. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors confirmed that she wasn't raped but someone tried to sexually assault her," said the officer.
Sombir was later nabbed from the area. He has been booked under the relevant sections of POCSO Act, police said.
