At least 23 people have been killed and seven others injured after torrential rains triggered a massive landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province, officials said today.
The landslide swept away several houses in Pianpo Village of Dafang County following heavy rains on Friday, the officials said.
A total of 30 people were trapped in the landslide. All missing and dead people have been found, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
More than 800 soldiers and rescuers worked with excavators to search for the missing villagers.
The rescue work has been completed and reconstruction has started, the report said.
The landslide involved more than 95,000 cubic meters of debris and covered an area of 19,000 square metres.
Nationwide, 133 counties in 11 provincial-level regions -- including the provinces of Hubei, Jiangsu and Zhejiang -- have reported floods, landslides or mud flows.
Some 120,000 people have been displaced and 40,000 are in need of aid.
