About 240 kg of ganja sourced from Andhra Pradesh was seized from a car in Madurai district today by Narcotics Control Bureau officials and two persons arrested in this regard.
The officials, acting on a tip off, intecepted the car at Melur in Madurai district and seized the contraband which was concealed under the rear seat, NCB Zonal Director A Bruno said in an official release.
The rear seat had been removed to conceal the ganja packets and it was covered with a white towl on top. The car had fake registration number plates to mislead law enforcement agencies, he said.
The gang was active in the recent past and came under the scanner of NCB, which led to the arrest of traffickers under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, he said.
