A 27-year-old woman student of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) here was found dead in her hostel room on the varsity campus today, police said.
Usha Sahu, a native of Sambalpur in Odisha state, who was pursuing B.Ed English programme course at EFLU, was found hanging from the ceiling fan in her room, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kachiguda Division) J Ranjan Rathan Kumar told PTI tonight.
"The exact reason behind her death was still not known. However, preliminary investigations revealed that she was mentally depressed. No suicide note has been found so far in the room. Police are further investigating and searching if any suicide note was left behind," the ACP said.
Osmania University police were further investigating.
Earlier, two students of the city-based EFLU allegedly committed suicide this year.
In March this year, a 29-year-old PhD student Kamran Mudasir from Jammu and Kashmir allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his hostel room on the EFLU campus, prompting wide-spread protests here and in Kashmir Valley.
In another incident, a PhD scholar C M Mohiuddin (33), a native of Srivilliputhur in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu, was found hanging from a ceiling fan at a madrasa near the EFLU campus in May, police had said.
