The body of Gaurav Rathore, a software engineer and a resident of Chhutmalpur in Saharanpur, was found last evening lying in the University premises with an injury on its head, district police spokesperson said.
A country-made pistol, live cartridge and drugs were also recovered from the spot, he said.
The victim's family have lodged complaint with police accusing Gaurav's in-laws behind his death.
Gaurav had last year married Priyanka, also a resident of Chhutmalpur, in court but her family was supportive of their love marriage, police said.
A meeting for compromise on the firing incident between both the sides was scheduled for today.
On the basis of complaint of Gaurav's relatives, a case has been registered against his in-laws, he said.
Meanwhile, police are not ruling out the possibility of suicide and are investigating the case, he said.
