Three men, allegedly involved in a dacoity committed at a businessman's house in Haryana's Panipat, were arrested in Dwarka area here, police said today.
The accused identified as Randeep Rathi (21), Sumit Rathi (24) and Mohit Malik (19) possessed a huge amount of looted gold and silver ornaments.
The three men were accused of looting Rs 52,000 and 30-35 tola gold and silver ornaments from the businessman's house at gunpoint on June 4, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar said.
After registering a case, the Haryana Police had constituted several teams to nab the accused.
The Crime Branch team laid a trap to arrest the accused as they knew that they would come at Sector 13 in Dwarka to dispose the looted jewellery, the police said.
The police recovered 400 gram of gold jewellery, including eight bengals, nine rings, four necklaces etc. Approximately 1.5 kg silver jewellery, including 20 silver coins, were also recovered.
The accused belong to middle class farmer families residing in different villages of Panipat district and were executives of a multi-level marketing company at Sector 30 in Kurukshetra.
According to the accused, they were lured by an acquaintance of the victim businessman and one of their seniors in the company, saying there was a huge amount of cash and jewellery at his house.
In order to earn quick and easy money, the accused persons committed the dacoity, the police said.
Randeep is a second year student at a Nagpur-based college. Sumit is a graduate and sole bread earner in his family.
