Three Bangladeshis were arrested in Hailakandi district on the charge of doing business despite coming to India on tourist visas, police said Wednesday.

To get engaged in business activities after entering the country on tourist visa is violation of the provisions of the Indian Passport Act, Superintendent of Police Mohneesh Mishra said.

Mishra denied media reports that the three had entered the country illegally.

A local court remanded them to three days' police custody.

They were arrested on Monday.
