Three Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested, including a mother-son duo, for allegedly robbing a person by luring him into buying dollars at cheap rates, police said today.
They said Salma (48), Ujjal (27) and Mohammad Farooq (36), all natives of Madhaipura in Bangladesh, were arrested yesterday on the basis of a complaint filed by Noida-resident Kanhaiya.
Tultu, suspected to be the gang leader, is absconding, said Rishi Pal, DCP(east).
Kanhaiya said the the gang, posing as poor needy people showed him a dollar note, claiming that they had got the US bills in large numbers from a garbage dump.
After Kanhaiya agreed to purchase the dollars, he was called to Geeta Colony on September 19, he said.
When he arrived at the pre-decided place, the complainant said he was robbed of cash and valuables on knife point.
