Three Bengali feature films have made the cut to the feature section of Indian Panorama of the 48th International Film Festival of India (IFFI).
While Kaushik Ganguly's 'Bisorjon' and Pratim D Gupta's 'Maacher Jhol' figure in the other Indian language films of the Indian Panorama, Anik Dutta's 'Meghnad Badh Rahasya' has been included in the section's mainstream cinema sub-category.
"This is a well-deserved debut for Pratim D Gupta in the Indian Panorama and Machher Jhol will certainly tickle tastebuds of the film festival audience," one of the important actors of the film Paoli Dam said today.
Ganguly, who is travelling to Goa for the eighth consecutive year for a screening of his film at the Indian Panorama, confirmed he will be in Goa on November 24.
Ganguly had first won the IFFI award - the Silver Peacock - for 'Arekti Premer Golpo' in IFFI 2010.
Dutta's Bengali feature film 'Meghnad Badh Rahasya' is among the mainstream cinema category in the Indian Panorama section.
The reputed ad film maker's debut feature film 'Bhooter Bhabishyat' (2012) was a blockbuster.
In the Indian Panorama section's non-feature category, there are three Bengali films - 'Dugga' by Chandrasish Ray, 'Our Grandparents' Home' by Supriyo Sen and 'Palash' by Vaibhav Hiwase.
The 48th edition of the IFFI is being held between November 20 and 28 in Goa.
