3 charred to death in fire in Jammu

Three persons were charred to death and as many others sustained serious burn injuries when their temporary huts caught fire in Narwal area of Jammu city in wee hours today.
"Three persons have been killed and as many others injured when their slums caught fire in the Narwal area at around 2.30 AM," a police officer said.
Over four dozen huts were damaged in the fire which was later brought under control by deploying several fire tenders, he said.
"Several fire tenders were pressed into service to bring down the fire which is almost under control now," he said.
A case has been registered and investigation initiated to ascertain the cause of the fire, he said.
