Three persons were killed and five others injured here on Monday when a pickup van rammed into the rear of a truck, police said.
The deceased were the occupants of the pickup van and they were on their way to offer prayers at Kaila Devi Dham in Karauli district when the accident occurred on the Rajakheda-Dholpur road, Superintendent of Police, Dholpur, Ajay Singh said.
The accident apparently took place after the driver of the truck suddenly applied the brakes, police said.
Ram Babu (58), Prem Chand (40) and Gajendra (32), all residents of Agra in Uttar Pradesh, died in the accident while the injured were referred to a hospital in that district, the SP said.
The bodies were handed over to the family members after post-mortem and a case was registered against the truck driver, he said.
