According to Public Works Department, the corridor, which is around 7.5 km, will also ease traffic flow coming from outer and north Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
At present, there is a heavy traffic congestion on this stretch every moment as trucks, buses and cars enter in the national Capital from Sonipat, Chandigarh, Kurukshetra, Ambala and other areas.
"A stretch of 10.5 km roads are being widen on both sides of this corridor. PWD will construct three flyovers on Bhalaswa, Mukundpur and Burari intersections. Besides, two bridges on Bhalaswa and Libaspur drains will also be built, which will facilitate residents of the nearby areas. One bridge will also be constructed on Jagatpur drain," said a senior PWD official attached to this project.
He said that commuters will be able to avoid red lights at these major intersections and this is expected to improve traffic circulation at Mukundpur, Burari, Nirankari colony and Bhalaswa.
He also said that two additional loops will be built at Mukundpur Chowk for a right turn while four foot overbridges in Mukarba Chowk, Jahangir Puri, Jagat Pur and Burari are also part of the plan.
