Three men were arrested for demanding extortion money and damaging a barrier at a toll plaza on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur highway after the staff there refused to pay them, police said.
Rikshi Tyagi, son of notorious gangster Vicky Tyagi, along with his two associates Gaurav and Ritik demanded extortion of Rs 1 lakh per month from the toll staff, police said.
Kotwali station house officer Anil Kapervan said a complaint was lodged by toll plaza manager Ayush Rathi and two cases were registered against the accused.
The complaint stated that the three men threatened the staff and later damaged a barrier at the toll plaza located in Rohana village.
They also misbehaved with police officials who rushed to the spot, the SHO said.
