Abhay Singh, a student of class 11, was living in a rented accommodation with his brother in Patel Nagar area of Chakeri. He was kidnapped on July 23 by three persons when he was on his way to his hometown in Fatehpur, Superintendent of Police (city) Prabhakar Choudhary said.
On July 24, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 5 lakh from Abhay's brother, who informed his relatives, who in turn informed the police, the SP said.
Based on mobile surveillance, three persons, including one Sanjeev Naagar were arrested yesterday, he said.
Police recovered Abhay's body from the canal and has sent it for post mortem, SP Choudhary said, adding investigations were going on.
