The accident took place around 11.30 PM when a speeding Honda City car collided with a Maruti SX4 car near the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Following which a PCR van deployed there rushed to the spot.
Meanwhile, a speeding Audi car approached the intersection and lost control in a bid to prevent ramming into the SX4 but ended up hitting several other vehicles, including the PCR van and two cars and some motorbikes, present there, a police official said.
The injured persons, who are believed to be occupants of the first two cars, were rushed to a hospital and a case of rash driving was registered, the official said.
The police are going through the CCTV footage to ascertain the exact sequence of the event and to identify the driver of the Audi, he added.
