Three Kashmiri youths were arrested after they hit their car on the security barricades installed near Indo-Pak land transit route early this morning.
This is the second incident in two months. Last month, an NRI had crashed his vehicle into the security gates at Attari Joint Check Post (JCP).
A Border Security Force (BSF) official said three Kashmiri youths were apprehended "well in time and well before the international gate" due to barricade erected by the border protection force.
BSF DIG Sumer Singh said during preliminary investigation, three youths claimed that they had begun their journey by road from Srinagar yesterday for New Delhi.
"But they took the wrong route and mistakenly reached Attari border where their car hit the security barricades," he said.
The official claimed that because of alertness of BSF troops and adequate security arrangements much before the international gate, BSF succeeded to prevent youths to reach near the international Indo-Pak border.
He said the moment the car crashed into security barricade, security siren got activated and youths were arrested.
Three Kashmir youths were identified as Basheer (28), Sajad Ahmed (28) and Shoeb (21), all residents of Srinagar, he said, adding nothing objectionable has been found from their possession.
SSP Amritsar (Rural) Jasdeep Singh, "BSF has handed over their custody to police and we have arrested them."
Notably, an NRI crashed his SUV into the security gates at the Attari Joint Check Post (JCP) and reached the Zero line at the International Border in the wee hours on November 16 which was described as major security breach at the Wagah-Attari border.
